“Who swear by the name of the LORD and invoke the God of Israel, but not in truth nor in righteousness.” (Isaiah 48:1)
Saying I’m a Christian invokes Jesus’ name, but saying I am, isn’t the same as belonging to Him. Lots of people use God’s name (most of the time in a blasphemous way), but saying and doing are different things.
God knows the difference between the doers and the talkers. If we are going to invoke His name, we better be prepared to live under His lordship. The Jews like to talk about being the people of God, but in Isaiah’s day, very few were living like the people of God.
Live like you’ve been branded with His name. Carry yourself in truth and righteousness. We bear His name upon us.
