“He who goes to and fro weeping, carrying his bag of seed, shall indeed come again with a shout of joy, bringing his sheaves with him.”
(Psalm 126:6)
Being a Christian doesn’t mean that life will always be easy, far from it. Jesus said things like “take up your cross” and “I did not come to bring peace, but a sword”. The apostle Paul warned the saints that entering the kingdom would require many tribulations. Sometimes, being a follower of Jesus means you cry your tears and just keep sowing the seed.
But here’s the thing about seeds – they eventually grow up and bear fruit. God’s work can be terribly hard sometimes, but just keep at it. Just keep working and serving and eventually it will all work out. The crops of your faithful trust will work out.
Endurance is the name of the game for Christians. Don’t give up when life gets hard or when you aren’t happy. Momentary unhappiness happens in every job and marriage and life. Christians don’t live for the moment; we live for eternity. Carry your bag of seed and keep sowing what the King tells you to – eventually the joy will spring up in the soil.
