“I will not leave you or forsake you.” (Joshua 1:5)
This phrase is used five times in the Old Testament and once in the New Testament. Each time it is given as a statement of comfort to God’s people as they prepare to do hard and scary things.
About to go to war against an overwhelming foe? He will not leave you nor forsake you.
Taking on responsibility that you’ve never had before and everyone is looking to you to lead the way? He will not leave you nor forsake you.
Life has changed at devastating cost and you are unsure what to do next? He will not leave you nor forsake you.
It seems that at every turn of life when we are most desperately afraid of failure or despair, God wishes to remind us that He isn’t gone. He’s never far; we’re not alone.
