“Every work which he [Hezekiah] began in the service of the house of God in law and in commandment, seeking his God, he did with all his heart and prospered.” (2 Chronicles 31:21)
One of the great aspects of studying the kings is that their reigns, which often spanned decades, ends up being summed up in a sentence or two. This is both profound and humbling. It is humbling because if a king’s life can condensed to a pass/fail grade… certainly ours can.
It is profound because that is actually how it works – some day, we will all stand before the judgment bar of God and He will either pronounce victory upon a life that walked in His commandments and a heart that sought Him or He will pronounce judgment upon a person who’s life could be summed up in “he did not do what was right in God’s eyes”.
The Judgment Day will be important, but it will not be complicated.
