“Your words were found and I ate them, and Your words became for me a joy and the delight of my heart; for I have been called by Your name, O LORD God of hosts.” (Jeremiah 15:16)
In the midst of terrible and anxious times, Jeremiah found God’s Word and it brought him joy and delight. It is possible to be full of joy when the world feels like it is on fire.
The world is uncertain – but God isn’t. His mercies are new every morning (see Lam. 3:22-23).
The times are constantly changing – but Jesus isn’t. He is the same today, yesterday, and forever (see Heb. 13:8).
Our governors and rulers often fail us – but Jesus is forever King of kings (see Rev. 17:14).
People will leave us – but the Holy Spirit won’t (see John 14:16).
If you do nothing else today, go to the Scriptures and eat them up. They are nutrition for the soul.
