“Know that the LORD Himself is God; It is He who has made us, and not we ourselves; we are His people and the sheep of His pasture.” (Ps 100:3)
Amongst the population of planet Earth, mankind reigns at the top of the food chain. We are the shepherds, the hunters, the gatherers, and the conquerors. With our ingenuity and might we have tunneled through mountains, built cities upon the waters, and bridged the continents. Like children in a giant sandbox, we have played and altered the globe to meet our own desires.
And that power and dominion has gone to our heads. We glory in what we have made to the point that we forget that we were once made, too. From the dust, God formed man and from His mind came our fearfully and wonderfully created bodies.
We’ve been given temporary dominion of His creation so that we might explore it, cultivate it, and ultimately give Him glory for its beauty and design. We mold what has been given to us, but He made it all from nothing.
“And Jehovah God formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.” (Gen 2:7)
