“And the Lord will be king over all the earth; in that day the LORD will be the only one, and His name the only one.”
(Zechariah 14:9)
In mathematics, unity is another term for the number one. Jesus’ kingdom is one of unity because there is only one. One Lord, one faith, one hope, one baptism, and one God over all according to Ephesians 4.
The world is full of religious dis-unity. Many gods, many hopes, many faiths, and many baptisms. In short, worship who you want, how you want, and why you want. They replace the unity of the One with the dis-unity of the many.
If we wish to follow Jesus, we have to accept Him as the One and reject the many. However, that also means we get unity. Unity through a common King (Jesus), a common guide (the Scriptures), a common people (the church), and a common hope (heaven).
