The Fruit of Worry

“but the worries of the world, and the deceitfulness of riches, and the desires for other things enter in and choke the word, and it becomes unfruitful.”

(Mark 4:19)

We can make the mistake of thinking that worry is productive.  If I don’t worry about it, who will?!  Somebody has to care, right?  Here is the problem though.  Worrying about things that you have no control over is a waste of energy – energy that God gave you for good works.  That waste of energy is just as bad as being deceived by riches and greed.

Turn the news off if you have to.  Walk outside and talk to your neighbor instead.  Talk to him about Jesus.  Invite him to church.  Worry turns our energy inward – trusting God to take care of the outcome turns our energy outward.

Be the light and salt.
