The Compassion of the LORD

“Blessed be the LORD, who daily bears our burden, the God who is our salvation.” (Ps 68:19)

The 68th Psalm just brims with references to the intimate concern God has for His people. Verse 19 contains so particularly beautiful details. The fact that our burdens are His burdens is a tremendous concept.

Many a young child has brought their worries (getting shots at the doctor, a broken toy, a lost piece of costume jewelry, etc.) to an adult only to have the grown-up explain how their problem isn’t really a big deal… and yet, to the child, it IS a big deal.

Our Father could easily treat our problems the same way. Any struggle we face is inconsequential compared to the concerns and daily affairs of the great I AM, but He doesn’t view it that way. If it matters to us, it matters to him.

Our everyday problems are His concern, too.

“Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.” (1 Pet 5:6-7)
