“For then I will give to the peoples purified lips, that all of them may call on the name of the LORD, to serve Him shoulder to shoulder.” (Zephaniah 3:9)
Zephaniah’s prophecy is a foreshadowing of the kingdom of Christ, the church of the New Testament. Jesus undoes the damage of Babel. In Christ, the confusion created by selfishness is replaced with the unity of lips that all speak the same language of faith in God.
Jesus’ people come from all walks of life and countries. Our respective nations may even be at war with one another, but as God’s people, we stand shoulder to shoulder as the Lord’s army.
It is the unity that no government as ever been able to create, but can be found daily in the interactions of Christians across the globe.
