“Therefore, those who had been scattered went about preaching the word.”
(Acts 8:4)
Christians are meant to be scattered from time to time. If seeds aren’t scattered, the forest never grows. There will be times in your life when God will send you places you didn’t expect or allow you to go through things you didn’t want… but that is just the scattering process. Christians must depart from our comfort zones and go to foreign fields in order to bring the seed of God’s Word there. We cannot be salt if we are all concentrated in one place.
I sometimes think about all the wonderful Christians I know all over the country, and it makes me sad that I don’t get to see them as often as I’d like to, but I know there is a reason it is that way right now. We are all in different corners of the world doing kingdom work where God needs us to be. God has a way of shifting His people around the world as He sees fit to do the work He wants done.
I imagine it was very hard for the Christians in Jerusalem when they all had to leave suddenly. It can’t have been comfortable, and it probably was scary. Yet, God was growing His church by scattering His people who would bring His seed with them.
