“For they sow the wind and they reap the whirlwind…” (Hosea 8:7)
Many people do not know that the saying “reap the whirlwind” comes from the Bible. Today, those who use this phrase are typically offering some sort of boastful threat to their enemies about the vengeance they will send if things don’t go their way.
It was not an idle threat when God said it to Israel – it wasn’t even a threat at all, it was a fact. When we spend our life planting worldly things (the wind), then we end up with worldly consequences (the whirlwind). We get out the accumulation of what we have grown in our lives.
The New Testament would say something similar:
“Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatever a man sows, that shall he also reap.” (Galatians 6:7)
What we put into our life will determine what we harvest from it. What are you planting today?
