Prosperity’s Power

“Israel is a luxuriant vine; he produces fruit for himself.  The more his fruit, the more altars he made; the richer his land, the better he made the sacred pillars…” (Hosea 10:1)

Prosperity is not the key to life, it merely provides with opportunity to become more of who we wish to be.  Money doesn’t create character, it merely accentuates it.

The more we have, the more clearly we can see who we really are.  A man of means is just a man with the luxury to freely pursue who he wishes to be.

For those of us who live in a first-world country, we ought to take note that it is quite possible we aren’t using that freedom to pursue the right passions.  The temptation to waste the power of prosperity on worldliness and vanity is certainly a real and present danger.
