“But evil will come on you which you will not know how to charm away…” (Isaiah 47:11)
Some folks are really good at talking their way out of problems. They often run for office. With a few charming words and some slick lies, we learn that we can dodge problems by deceiving our way through life… and it often works for a time.
Lying is such a popular behavior, all of us try it out at some point in our lives.
But some things can’t be charmed away. You can’t charm your way out of death or the Judgment Day. When we meet God, He’ll see right through you. Can you imagine talking with someone who knew everything you were thinking in your heart? It’s a little bit terrifying to have that level of transparency, but that’s the way it will be.
When God judges us, we can’t talk our way out of it. The only answer is repentance, and we all should get about repenting before there isn’t time to.
