“But we believe that we are saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus in the same way as they also are.” (Acts 15:11)
One of the beautiful truths of Acts is that it outlines the impartiality of God and the consistency of His offer of salvation. In Acts 15, as Peter relays the details of his time with the non-Jewish nations, he emphasizes this continuity of love. God saves all people through the same Person and the same path. The road to salvation is exactly the same today as it was two thousand years ago. God created a timeless process to save all mankind through the blood of a timeless sacrifice. To follow Jesus today looks exactly like it did in the book of Acts. This is why we are New Testament Christians… the New Testament way of saving people is just as relevant today as it was then. Jesus stands as perpetual grace for all who choose Him.
Matthew 4:4 #Biblebites
Today’s Reading: Acts 15:10-21
Questions to ask:
- How does this show the continuation of Jesus’ work now going on in the church?
- How is the gospel, Paul’s preaching, and/or Paul’s defense received?
- What is the Holy Spirit doing in this text?
- What in our reading shows how Paul handled adversity and difficulty?
This year, #Biblebites are following the life and writings of Paul. If you would like a copy of the reading schedule, you can view it here: https://eastlandchristians.org/news-events/2023-vision
