When Jesus warned His disciples about the standard of measure they used for judgment, He started by telling them to be careful to what they listened to. Who you listen to will decide how you measure success, how you measure yourself, and how you judge others.
If the highlight reel of other people’s social media is what you listen to – it will shape your values.
If the polarization and shock news of mass media is what you listen to – it will shape your values.
If your own negative self-talk, or the complaining of others is what you listen to – it will shape your values.
If the immorality of Hollywood is what you listen to – it will shape your values.
If the Word of God, His people, and truth is what you listen to – it will shape your values.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
