“praising God and having favor with all the people”
(Acts 2:47a)
Many sermons have been written about the character of the early church in Jerusalem – their fervor and their love for God are worthy of emulation and we do well to meditate on their example.
He’s something to consider – as they praised God, the people liked them. Christian virtues make for good people. If you are living as Jesus intends, you will be an honest, kind person that thinks about others and tries to serve. Who wouldn’t like that guy?!
But here’s the key – never stop praising God in that process. Those folks that like the product need to know the Producer. Any praise we might receive needs to be directed His way.
“Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:16)
