“This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
(Lamentations 3:21-23)
The number of times God tells His people to ‘remember’ or ‘recall’ is in the hundreds… you’d almost think we have a memory problem!
Turns out remembering isn’t just about knowing which commands to obey, it’s also about remembering that we have hope even when things seem really dark (after all, the above verse is from the book of Lamentations).
I recommend taking the time to read one of the many heroic tales from the Bible this week. Follow the thread of the life of Gideon, Esther, Ruth, Nicodemus, Hannah, or… take your pick. What you will see is REAL people who lived REAL lives that were sometimes REAL hard.
Yet, we count them blessed who endured. At the darkest moments, God always enters the story to save them through His sovereign love. The world is a crazy place, but God is faithful. Always.
And don’t you forget it.
