“Looking at him, Jesus felt a love for him and said to him, “One thing you lack: go and sell all you possess and give to the poor, and you will have treasure in heaven; and come, follow Me.”
(Mark 10:21)
Jesus’ love for the rich young ruler led to Him commanding the young man to give everything he owned away. Jesus knew what he needed and what he needed was less of some things so he could have more of Jesus.
The same is true for you and me. If our lives are full, there is no room for Jesus. We must remove the distractions, the fears, the desires of this world, and the comforts of luxury to make room for His all-consuming glory. He will ask you to remove so that He can fill. Make no mistake, Jesus is not looking to merely enhance your existing life. He is not interested in being an adornment upon your current lifestyle. He wishes to provide you an entirely different life. He is moving in and all others must move out to make room for Him.
This process may begin with sadness as we see the old life being crucified, but it ends with rejoicing as we are born anew in Him. Less leads to more.
