“Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you…” (Jeremiah 1:5)
I know that I don’t understand all of the implications of God saying this to Jeremiah, and I also understand that Jeremiah was a unique man in a unique time so this verse doesn’t mean God pre-plans every person’s occupation and purpose like He did Jeremiah’s.
But I also know that the God who could think this far ahead with Jeremiah is not going to have any problem making sure my life has meaning. Forethought and attention to detail is a strong suit of His.
So, if I’m feeling listless and purposeless… I try and remember that the same God that fashioned Jeremiah in the womb, knows me, too.
