“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, so that there may be food in My house, and test Me now in this,” says the LORD of hosts, “If I will not open for you the windows of heaven and pour out for you a blessing until it overflows.”
(Malachi 3:10)
First things first – that’s what God teaches us to do. When the Israelites gave God only part of what was due Him, they thought they were saving money by giving less than the full tithe, but in reality, they were only cheating themselves.
God designed us to put Him first and then trust Him to bless us as He sees fit. This is true in financial things like our weekly church contributions, but it is also true in things like our time, service, and habits. Put first things first and you will find God opens the windows of heavens to arrange your life with enough time, talent, and money to meet all your soul’s needs and more.
Or as Jesus said, “Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33)
