“The LORD is righteous within her; He will do no injustice. Every morning He brings His justice to light; He does not fail. But the unjust knows no shame.” (Zephaniah 3:5)
The era of Zephaniah is one of deep moral corruption in the midst of Jerusalem. The people seemed to have no shame or care for things that were ethical and pure. Truth was not pursued and God was not revered. It was a hard time to be a faithful person.
In the midst of that morally declining culture, Zephaniah reminds us that God was still present and just. He could still be found by those that sought Him and pursued by those desiring justice.
In other words, God cannot be moved. If a society ignores Him, that does not mean they can destroy Him. God will not fail His people. He didn’t then, and He won’t now.
