“To open blind eyes, to bring out prisoners from the dungeon and those who dwell in darkness from the prison.” (Isaiah 42:7)
When prisoners forget what freedom looks like, hope dies. Satan wishes for people to remain captive to his wiles. When we accept sin as inevitable and selfishness as the only option, we will never be free. The world is dystopian, and Satan wants you to buckle under its problems. Jesus wishes to open our lives to a better way.
He offers us a life where He forgives us and we are free from the burdens of our guilt. He offers us a life where we can trust Him and no longer feel afraid of the uncertain road ahead. Jesus invites us to walk in His light where the troubles of this life make sense as birth pangs, instead of death throes.
You need not live in the dungeon of pride or self-pity. Let His hope illuminate your heart. The Scriptures are a light that can dawn within our souls, and we can go on our way rejoicing. Follow the Shepherd, He knows the way.
“And we have the word of prophecy made more sure; whereunto you do well that you take heed, as unto a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts” (2 Peter 1:19)
