“They feed on the sin of My people and direct their desire toward their iniquity.” (Hosea 4:8)
Not everyone has your best interests at heart. There are people in your life that do not want you to follow God because that would cause them to feel bad about their own choices. They feed off of your sin – it makes them feel better about themselves and gives them a sense of control.
Hollywood is a great example of this. We must accept that the movie and television industry has a desire to turn us toward iniquity – to both accept it, be entertained by it, and to behave immorally ourselves.
We cannot always know why people behave this way or find purpose in feeding off of the fall of others, but just because we can’t understand why they do it, doesn’t me we shouldn’t guard ourselves against it.
