“Yet all of this does not satisfy me every time I see Mordecai the Jew sitting at the king’s gate.”
(Esther 5:13)
Haman was a wicked man and he is a good reminder of how evil works. It wasn’t enough for Haman to be more powerful than Mordecai – Haman wasn’t going to be satisfied until Mordecai was totally annihilated.
Evil doesn’t compromise. Satan isn’t interested in a truce with the church. He wants to devour Jesus’ people mind, body, and soul. Don’t buy the idea that “a little sin” isn’t that harmful. Any sin left in your life will devour you from top to bottom if you leave it unchecked. We must constantly be fighting back the personal temptations that seek to ensnare us lest we succumb to them.
Likewise, don’t expect the world to compromise and leave you alone if you let it have its way. When Christians were told abortions would be “safe, legal, and rare” in the United States, that quickly became abortion-on-demand for any reason. When homosexuality was touted as being about “inclusion” and “equality”, it turned into legalized homosexual “marriage” within a generation.
Evil is marching – it makes no compromises – and it won’t be satisfied with a compromise. Don’t be lukewarm in your faith.
