“Thus he set up the pillars at the porch of the nave; and he set up the right pillar and named it Jachin, and he set up the left pillar and named it Boaz.” (1 Kings 7:21)
The Solomonic temple was one of the greatest architectural achievements in history. It was exquisitely opulent with gold throughout and the finest of craftsmanship. It took seven years to construct and tens of thousands of man hours to complete. For what purpose was such a masterpiece toiled over?
As you approach the temple porch and look up with awe at the two massive bronze pillars adorning and bracing the roof their names tell you all you need to know. “He shall establish” (Jachin) and ‘in Him is strength’ (Boaz).
Never forget that without God, the house will fall. Only with His support do we do truly great things.
“Unless the LORD builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the LORD watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain.” (Psalms 127:1)
