“But the LORD is with me like a dread champion…” (Jeremiah 20:11)
A dread champion is the one that represents the nation in a contest for its fate – think Goliath standing in the valley of Elah challenging Israel to bring their finest warrior to a clash for the ages.
The dread champion is the big stick that defends the little guy. The champion is power and violence harnessed in a protector.
God is that for us. He steps into the valley of our problems and fights our battles for us. He calls out to our enemies with laughter when they think they can destroy us. God is your champion.
He’s in your corner. He will stand between you and your worst fears if you’ll let him. He leads us and He guards us.
And believe me, the devil knows it, too… and he dreads your champion.
Trust your champion. Be adventurous, fearless, and brave. What do you have to fear when He is with you?
