“They took for themselves Moabite women as wives; the name of the one was Orpah and the name of the other Ruth. And they lived there about ten years.” (Ruth 1:4)
Ruth was married to her husband for ten years. They shared ten years of anniversaries, friendship, family dinners, evening walks, laughter, and tears. It was a whole life they shared together.
And yet, for us, Ruth’s story begins at the end of those ten years. We jump right to the highlights and skip the day-to-day routines of her life before she was widowed.
But Ruth didn’t skip those days – she lived every single one of them not knowing what things if any, she would be remembered for.
Embrace your life one day at a time and don’t wait for the highlight reel. You never know which days will be the most important.
This is the day that the LORD has made; let us rejoice and be glad in it. (Ps. 118:24)
