“Do not let your heart envy sinners, but live in the fear of the LORD always. Surely there is a future, and your hope will not be cut off” (Proverbs 23:17-18)
When others are living for today, it is difficult to remember you are living for eternity. There is a strong temptation to covet the ease of those who squander their life on luxury, comfort, and selfish ambition.
Do not envy those who are selling their eternity for the shiny trinkets of today. The ant must ignore the grasshopper while he prepares his storehouses for the winter.
The Christian’s future is bright – the passing storm clouds are just trivial blights upon our eternal joy.
“…storing up treasure for themselves as a good foundation for the future, so that they may take hold of that which is truly life.” (1 Timothy 6:19)
