“The covenant that I have made with you, you shall not forget, nor shall you fear other gods.” (2 Kings 17:38)
Forgetting is a passive act. It is the thing we do because we are busy thinking about other things.
Remembering is an active process. It is the act of drawing into our mind a thing that we know to be true and need to be aware of.
Be active – remember God’s covenant with us. Don’t forget His promises or His precepts. Remember Him when the scary times roll in. Remember Him when the days are lean and when the times are uncertain. Fear can be a false god, too.
He is our rock and shield. We must actively remember that at all times.
“The LORD is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer, My God, my rock, in whom I take refuge; My shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.” (Psalm 18:2)
