“Whoever is wise, let him understand these things; whoever is discerning, let him know them. For the ways of the LORD are right, and the righteous will walk in them, but transgressors will stumble in them.” (Hosea 14:9)
God’s Word is simple enough to be accessible to anyone, but it is deep enough to require us to dig for the wisdom of the ages. God requires us to mine His words in order to gain its riches. That’s why reading the Bible is harder than reading a novel. It feels taxing at times because you are working to study and understand.
So if you feel like your Bible study is difficult at times, you are probably doing it right. Wrestle through it and gain the understanding. Ask the big questions, seek to discern what God is saying, and you will find the struggle is what makes your spirit stronger. The best gems are at the bottom of the mine.
His ways are right and when God speaks, it’s worth our time and energy to discern and understand.
