“They spoke of the God of Jerusalem as of the gods of the peoples of the earth, the work of men’s hands.” (2 Chronicles 32:19)
Blasphemy is when God’s name is used like any other name. When the Israelites began to casually speak of Jehovah the same way they would speak of any other name or false god – blasphemy was on their lips.
Of all the names you will ever say, His is deserving of the most respect. If you wouldn’t use your mother’s name as a swear word, don’t use His. The only time we should say, “Oh my, God!” is when we praise His greatness and glory.
