Cultivating the Wild

“Is it not yet just a little while before Lebanon will be turned into a fertile field, and the fertile field will be considered as a forest?” (Isaiah 29:17)

The land of Lebanon were well-known for their wild and impressive forests of cedar.  What God told Judah was that he would take the “wild woods” of a people and tear them down so that He could cultivate the land into a fertile field.

Sometimes, God has to tame the wild to cultivate real growth in our souls… which probably means uprooting some things to make room.  He does it to people and He does it to nations.  His vision always surpasses our own.  So much so that we don’t even miss the cedars once the field starts bearing fruit.
