Conquering Discouragement

“Do not forgive their iniquity and let not their sin be blotted out before You, for they have demoralized the builders.”

Nehemiah 4:5

There are a lot of demoralizing things gone on in the world today.  It’s demoralizing when the popular culture calls good evil and evil good.  It’s demoralizing when the news is full of violence, hatred, and division.  It’s demoralizing when being a Christian can cost you friends, get you cancelled, or threaten your job.  Satan’s clever.  If you can demoralize the faithful, then you can walk all over them.

Nehemiah’s answer to demoralization? “So we built the wall” (Nehemiah 4:6)

The easiest way to conquer a downcast spirit is to find something spiritual to do.  Find a good work and put your hand to it.  Visit the sick, encourage the isolated, find a problem and fix it.  The guy that replaces the lightbulbs always walks in the light!

Don’t let this world take your confidence.  There is work to do and the King is watching.
