Confidence Through Competence

“Listen to Me, you who know righteousness, a people in whose heart is My law; do not fear the reproach of man, nor be dismayed at their revilings.” (Isaiah 51:7)

When we know the right thing to do and have committed God’s righteous law to our hearts, we are not worried about what others think – we are only concerned about the task ahead.

The apprentice is unsure, but the journeyman strives confidently forward with the work.  His expertise and experience protect him from the worry of criticism.  When we are competent, we are confident.

Many Christians aren’t confident in their faith because they haven’t taken the time to become competent.  As Hebrews 5:12 says, there are those who should be teachers by now, but instead they are still babies not ready for solid food.

The days are coming when we are going to need the confidence to withstand criticism for your faith in Christ.  It’s time to pursue competency so that His law will be upon our hearts.
