Christ Dispensers

“Dispense true justice and practice kindness and compassion each to his brother…”

(Zechariah 7:9)

Remember PEZ dispensers?  A funny little toy that holds candy and gives you some every time it opens its mouth.  Christians are supposed to be justice, kindness, and compassion dispensers.  God expects us to be full of it so that everyone will come to us when they want it, which brings Him glory and makes the world a better place.

But what happens if we stop dispensing those things?  When Christians don’t dispense justice because we stop caring about right and wrong, the world becomes a darker place and the church ceases to be a light.

What about kindness and compassion?  Ever met an ornery Christian that just seems to bristle with cantankerous attitudes and irritating habits? They may have the truth about Christ, but they sure aren’t living Christ-like.  Christians that don’t dispense kindness and compassion don’t represent Jesus or honor Him.

Every day, we put a little bit of ourselves out into the world, and hopefully, a little bit of Jesus, too.  Dispensing justice is all about standing by what is right in a world that calls good evil and evil good.  Dispensing kindness is the pursuit of generosity in a miserly and cynical society that is cold and heartless.  Dispensing compassion is the art of concern for others suffering in a culture that doesn’t leave much room for sympathy or vulnerability.

Be a Christ dispenser.
