An Uncommon God

“I am the LORD, that is My name; I will not give My glory to another, nor My praise to graven images.” (Isaiah 42:8)

God is good, but He is also exclusive and jealous.  It makes sense – why would the Creator accept the creation receiving His glory?  It is nonsense when we worship money, celebrities, or athletes.  It is foolish when our earthly patriotism surpasses our zeal for our heavenly country.

When His name is used as a common curse word – should He not be incensed and outraged?  Would you not do the same?

He deserves glory and anything less is to suppress the truth.  His name ought to be revered and spoken with awed tones.  His will should be consulted before all other considerations in our decision making, and our prayers should be the most valued communication in our social life.

I admit; I’m not there, yet.  #lifegoals
