An Honest Rebuke

“They hate him who reproves in the gate, and they abhor him who speaks with integrity.” (Amos 5:10)

One who reproves is one that rejects lies and stands up against those things that are dishonest.  Part of loving truth is being willing to accept when the truth and your own life don’t align.  An honest man when confronted with his wrong, either ceases to be wrong or he ceases to be honest.

If we love truth, we embrace those who would rebuke us in the gate and tell us hard truth because they are helping us become our best selves.  Disagreement is just an opportunity to pursue truth.
