“For He grew up before Him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of parched ground.” (Isaiah 53:2a)
Our Lord is proof that our environment doesn’t need to define us. He was a “root out of parched ground”… He grew up without luxuries and without the benefits of high society. He grew up misunderstood and with a hard road ahead for Himself.
And yet, He didn’t use those as excuses. The poor carpenter’s son from the backwater town of Nazareth fulfilled His mission – and aren’t we glad.
Parched ground can be the beginning of the story, but don’t let it decide the end of the story.
