A Dangerous Desire

“Their deeds will not allow them to return to their God.  For a spirit of harlotry is within them and they do not know the LORD.” (Hosea 5:4)

Repentance is hard, and the longer we have been committing a sin, the harder it is.  The wicked deeds of the Israelites didn’t allow them to return to God because their love of the evil grew through practice.

It is a lie to believe that you can change “whenever you want to”.  Sin doesn’t just affect our lives, it transforms our ‘wants’, too.  Many a person starts down a path of sin believing they are in control, only to find that their lives completely out of control and the desire for sin filling their heart so that there is no longer any room to know God.

Sin is dangerous stuff.  It deserves our fearful respect.

“Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walks about, seeking whom he may devour” (1 Peter 5:8)
